Synopsis

“Dramatic, soulful and connected to truth.”
- MOVIE MAGAZINE INTERNATIONAL

In this utterly riveting documentary from filmmakers Andrea Nix and Sean Fine, three children living in a displacement camp in northern war-torn Uganda go to extreme lengths to compete in their Uganda’s National Music and Dance Competition against the more cosmopolitan south Uganda.

Seen through the eyes of young singer Rose, xylophone player and ex-child soldier Dominic and Nancy, a dancer, all of whom faced unspeakable brutality in their short pasts.

Representing children all over the world who have been orphaned, violated or forced to carry arms, War Dance showcases the astounding resilience of the human spirit as the children talk about how singing, playing music and dancing drew them out of their suffering and makes them feel the lightness they felt before they witnessed war and left their villages.
