Renowned for his extensive explorations of Roman culture in Europe, French-Algerian Tony Gatlif directs the sultry Asia Argento in this gypsy joie de vivre about a woman who throws herself into a romantic quest to search for her ex-lover and gets caught up in a fascinating land.

Zingarina is a fiery Italian girl who travels to Romania to search for the father of her unborn child, a musician who she wrongly believes to have been deported out of France. When they meet he rejects her, so she immerses herself in the gypsy heartland of Romania. During her journey Zingarina meets a drifter called Tchalango who is also negotiating life by himself and not playing by anyone’s rules. Together, they embark on an odyssey across the harsh Romanian landscape.
