Synopsis

Full of suave swindlers, feisty females and burly brawlers, A Bad Day To Go Fishing follows a corrupt manager’s exploitation of a naïve ex-wrestler as he pits him against amateur challengers for money.

1997 and 1999’s ‘World’s Strongest Man’ Jouko Ahola plays ex-wrestling star Jacob who makes a living with manager Orsini as they travel around small South American towns organising wrestling exhibitions in run-down theatres. Orsini’s scheme is to lure spectators to a duel at which any challenger who succeeds in taking down Jacob in three minutes will win $1,000. After arriving in an anonymous Uruguayan town to launch a match between the champ and an amateur challenger, what should be easy money becomes a chain of mishaps, with Jacob’s failing physique provoking an existential crisis and Orsini facing up to a stubborn woman.
